The famous D69 “Iznik” pattern, a vibrant, stylized multi-colored floral decoration heavily inspired by historic Islamic and traditional Ottoman Iznik pottery. Executed on a cream-colored crackle-glazed slip background, it features a form number 1291 shape with a beautifully proportioned, bulbous body pinched into a short cobalt-blue neck and base ring
Charles Catteau (1880–1966) was an exceptionally influential French-Belgian Art Deco industrial designer and master ceramist
He achieved international acclaim primarily during his tenure as the artistic director for the renowned Belgian ceramics manufacturer Boch Frères Keramis in La Louvière, where he worked from 1920 until the early 1940s
Catteau is celebrated for making high-quality art accessible to the public, introducing vibrant colors, stylized fauna and flora, and bold geometric shapes into everyday household objects
