This black vintage Brillant PM (Petit Modèle) Delvaux with shoulder strap dates from the 1970s, Delvaux’s golden decade. A period when the bags were crafted entirely in-house and by hand.
This vintage model, in the rather rare PM size, is crafted from high-quality box calf leather.
This is one of the sought-after classics from the luxury house of Delvaux. In our view, too, this is their most elegant creation.
The Brillant was designed for the World’s Fair in Brussels and first saw the light of day in 1958.
This is a guaranteed authentic vintage piece; the carriage logo, together with the brand name ‘Modèle Déposé’, were stamped directly onto the leather in gold during the 1970s and 1980s.
The bag is in very good vintage condition and shows a few small age-related cracks at the top and on the clasp, entirely in keeping with its age and use. The interior of the bag is also very neat, with just a few inconspicuous stains. The bag comes with its original fabric dust bag.
The additional carrying strap provides a crossbody option, making the bag more modern and practical. The strap system was crafted by the high-end leather studio Atelier Liesbeth Verhelst.
The handle stands nice and straight, which is unusual for a bag of its age. The buckle, with its deep, warm golden colour, bears its own hallmark and has been re-gilded.
Comes with a restoration certificate from professional restorer Liesbeth Verhelst for the creation of the hanging system and the re-gilding of the buckle.
The bag has also been treated with a professional ‘leather wax’ by Atelier Patine and is fully protected and ready for a new lease of life. It comes with a restoration certificate for the leather wax treatment carried out by Atelier Patine.
