This carved sculpture is made out of  a striking brown and dark-banded coloration indicates a variegated natural hardstone
It represents the head of Guanyin the Bodhisattva of Compassion, often called the Goddess of Mercy, carved in a traditional Chinese stylistic tradition
It features downcast, meditative eyes, finely incised linear eyebrows, and a subtle, peaceful smile conveying inward calm
The hair is pulled up into an elaborate, high chignon (topknot) adorned with a stylized floral diadem or crown, typical of Guanyin iconography
