Lacquered wood subject with clasped hands
His monastic robe is inlaid with polychrome glassware, this was a staple design element during the late Konbaung and Mandalay periods in Myanmar. The attire has decorative bands adorned with molded lacquer relief work
This figure is represented kneeling with hands clasped together in the Anjali, a classic gesture of deep devotion, adulation, and respect towards the Buddha
It prbabky depicts Moggallana, one of the two chief disciples of the Buddha
It is crafted from hand-carved wood and coated in traditional red cinnabar lacquer, layered over a dark lacquer base coat. The head and body show remnants of original gold leaf gilding that has beautifully worn away over time.
