Three antique Chinese sancai-glazed pottery jars

€ 1850

Authentc jars with hand-thrown forms with individually made lids
While the signature sancai-style (“three-colour”) famously peaked during the Tang Dynasty (618–907), the technique was revived in later periods
The heavier potted shapes, stylized incised patterns around the shoulder, and specific degradation of the green glaze are typical of utilitarian and tomb pottery produced during the Liao, Song or Ming Dynasties
The surface shows significant burial weathering and glaze deterioration, including iridescent mineralization and flaking in places
Two jars with cover and one jar without cover
Ming dynasty (1368 to 1644) or earlier
